Our Boys

IW BW SGC Mishikoonz Mystic Lake "Mystic"

In June of 2020, Melba had a litter of 4 kittens with my favorite boy Jumper. The kittens were lovely - the Wonderland Litter, named for the beautiful trail Pete and I had hiked just before they were born. I was planning to keep Klapache, a precious little silver poly girl with huge lynx tips and a sweet expression. One of the poly boys was especially nice as well, but there was no decision to be made - it was impossible to keep a boy from this litter. I not only didn't have room but almost all of my girls were too related - he would have no mates.

Time passed and the kittens grew. Klapatche didn't develop as well as I'd hoped, and a lovely family claimed her. Sunrise and Eagle were perfect matches for people who'd been waiting forever for a kitten from me. In the meantime, little Mystic had done his best to attach himself to me. Early on, he would toddle over and squeak until I picked him up. Then, with age came power! He didn't wait to be picked up - he would run over and launch up to the desk while I was trying to work on the computer. He was irresistible. He was beautiful. He was staying and by 14 weeks, we both knew it.

Sometimes things happen that make you take a whole new direction in breeding. What happened to me was Mystic and I don't regret it for a second. The boy that couldn't stay became TICA's fourth best All Breed cat in the 2021-22 show season, making him Mishikoonz first International Winner. Extra special because Mystic is not just the best Maine Coon I've bred, but he's also a polydactyl Maine Coon. So.... breeding plans were scrapped and new ones put in place - delayed a bit while his new girlfriends grew up, but that was fine, because we were traveling the world anyway!

Averill Muddy Waters of Mishikoonz "Muddy"

Muddy is our other boy - a sweet friendly fellow who's happy to share studly duties with Mystic. His picture does not do him justice - my photography skills are obviously not up to snuff for showing either his color or wonderful expression! Julie Averill, thank you so much for this delightful big blue guy who loves to snuggle!
