Mishikoonz since 2007
Mishikoonz is a small, home based cattery run by Cari Tucker, a woman who has been infatuated with Maine Coons for a very long time. Her husband Pete (who only wanted two cats) loves her enough to dodge kittens on a regular basis and care for the crew when she is away at cat shows.
In addition to keeping up with the cattery, Cari is on the Maine Coon Breed Committee in TICA, and belongs to CFA’s Maine Coon Breed Council. She is also the Canadian and US maintainer for an international pedigree database. PawPeds is a valuable tool that allows breeders to calculate the inbreeding coefficiency of their litters, regardless of which association their cats are registered in.
If it isn’t cat related, look for Cari and Pete to be hiking in the wildeness of the Pacific Northwest… and occasionally in more exotic locations when cats and time allow!
Mission/Vision
My goal as a breeder is to preserve the Maine Coon as it should be.
I will use the best tools and techniques available to produce healthy, beautiful kittens with the amazing personalites that Maine Coons are famous for.
> I will show my cats to ensure that I follow the Breed Standard.
> I will health test my cats to prove their worthiness to produce offspring.
> I will socialize my kittens to enhance their naturally friendly temperaments.
Most of all, I will not surrender to fashion or the transient fads that have destroyed so many other pedigreed animals. With preservation of the breed in mind, I will mentor newer breeders and encourage those I mentor to do the same.
